ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER by University of the Witwatersrand

Job Description

Minimum qualifications/requirements/criteria:

  • Grade 12, a relevant qualification in Administration would be an advantage.
  • Three years of relevant experience in an administrative role at the University (or tertiary educational sector) will be advantageous.
  • Must be highly computer literate in MS Office, E-mail, Internet, database experience and knowledge of ORACLE/WAMS.
  • Display high levels of initiative.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), interpersonal, and organizational skills required.
  • Ability to work independently in a pressured environment and meet deadlines.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail is essential.
  • Must have an understanding of the higher education sector, as well as knowledge of the University’s systems and procedures.
Key job functions include:

  • Capturing all test marks, assignments and examination marks.
  • Dissemination of marks to Faculties, Schools and Departments.
  • Assists with maintaining contact with students by handling telephonic, written and walk-in student enquiries.
  • Responsible for all aspects of student marks, records and liaising with Course Coordinators.
  • Produce information for reports on academic information for staff
  • Organizing lecture and tutorial venues.
  • Perform any other general duties as allocated by the Head of School.
