Key Purpose
The Service Consultant is responsible to establish, manage and grow relationships between Discovery Employee Benefits and stakeholders such as Umbrella Fund participating employers, financial advisers and their offices, Discovery Sales Consultants, Pricing and Quotes team, Group Life and Retirement Fund administration teams and other Discovery support teams.
When problems occur, the Service Consultant needs to find the best possible solution to ensure effective and efficient resolution, aligned to business practices and within Industry regulatory frameworks. The Service Consultant plays a key role in promoting and transferring knowledge in respect of product offerings, responsible for broker, employer and member engagement and business retention.
The individual need to be experienced and comfortable to explain day to day administration processes and have a very good understanding of legislation applicable within the Retirement Fund and Group Life businesses.
Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to
The Service Consultant needs to establish, grow and maintain relationships with EB clients. When problems occur, the Service Consultant needs to find the best possible solution to ensure that the problem is solved as efficiently and effectively as possible, aligned to business practices while ensuring that the least amount of damage is done to the relationships of the parties involved.
  • Have regular recurring meetings with the brokers/employers – represent the Retirement Fund and Group Life business.
  • Feedback to operational management team on servicing status.
  • Meet regularly with the admin management team to discuss servicing matters.
  • Reduce escalation of queries and resolve as soon as possible.
  • Manage the client perception surveys for the retirement fund business and drive client participation.
  • Manage the employer/broker relationship and present Retirement Fund and Group Life admin changes, e.g., renewals or benefit enhancements, ensuring that the information supplied is understood and signed-off, any questions, queries, problems are resolved out as soon as possible.

Education and Experience
  • Matric – essential
  • 3 – 5 years Employee Benefits, Retirement Funds, Umbrella Fund experience – Essential
  • NQF level 5 or similar is advantageous
  • Relevant Industry Qualifications – Wealth Management, Introduction to Retirement Funds – Advantageous
  • MS Office – Advanced Excel Skills, Retirement Fund and Umbrella Fund operations, Accounting, Investments,
  • Full compliance and legislative universe relating to employee benefits, FAIS and Umbrella Funds.
