Job Overview

As an Engineering Manager you will be required to lead a team that is responsible for the platform and various services that are common to the VASTech product line including highly complex distributed systems with requirements for scalability to handle the ever-growing volume of telecoms traffic. Our user interfaces integrate with various other components and are used by expert operators, analysts and administrators

Duties and responsibility include the following, but not limited to:

Team Leadership

  • Manage team members in order to maximize engagement and as a result, the delivery of releases as defined by release plan
  • Provide professional support to employee through mentorship
  • Define and communicate priorities to the team in order to reach target dates
  • Assist in removing obstacles that is hampering the performance of the employee
  • Ensure that roles and responsibilities of all team members are clear and understood
  • Create clear OKR’s for team members that will be used for performance feedback
  • Manage the performance of the team through constant individual feedback
  • Assist in creating personal development plan for each employee
  • Manage the skillsets of the team to match and support the current and upcoming projects
  • Ensure company, product and team strategy is clear and understood by team members
  • Leave management
  • Team budget preparation and execution
  • Update the forecasted budget
  • Allocate expenses against the budget and provide invoices to finance where required
  • Detailed design of the new positions’ job specification and desired outcomes
  • Assist in recruitment process
  • Creation and implementation of induction plan for new starters

Process Implementation

  • Elicit and define customer/user requirements through customer feedback, project requirements and technology push
  • Make sure that team adheres to the defined software development process
  • Ensure required documentation is created
  • Refine team’s backlog based on priorities
  • Create work breakdown or user requirements
  • Make sure that effort estimation is done by team members

Product Delivery

  • Create and define a product strategy and vision for the relevant sub-system, through collaboration with stakeholders that supports the overall product strategy and vision set by the Product Manager
  • Prioritize features by ranking them against the product strategy and new projects committed to
  • Constantly optimise the value which the product provides to the customer
  • Highlight and manage dependencies on other teams
  • Maintain and create the required documentation for the relevant sub-system
  • Guide technical design and integration of software components and features
  • Provide technical leadership through process design inputs
  • Make suggestions on technical decisions & review design with all relevant stakeholders
  • Plan development of product as per roadmap with the resources at hand
  • Track the progress of the development, managing the team to reach the deadlines as specified
  • Regularly reporting to management on the status and progress of development
  • Identify potential third-party suppliers and decide on building vs. contracting as a solution
  • Ensure that quality is baked into the development process
  • Ensure consistent integration with Systems Integration Testing environment
  • Responsible for continuous integration and source control strategy of team

Technical Support

  • Triage of support incidents assigned to the team
  • Provide technical support and assistance for related products in the field
  • Interface with customers and support personnel on technical issues
  • Ensure resources are available to deal with any priority issues
  • Respond promptly and professionally to escalation requests for advanced technical support

Pre-Sales and Sales Support

  • Conduct market assessment
  • Match our solutions to the requirement
  • Responsible for product and feature demonstrations
  • Assist and review proposals
  • Network with Sales team
  • ATP planning and on-site preparation
  • Provide assistance with the internal and external training of the product.

Qualification & experience required

  • Min:  B. Engineering or Computer Science Degree
  • Ideal: Master’s Degree in Engineering or Computer Science with Management qualification
  • 10+ Years Team Management; Process Management; Requirements Analysis; Software Development & Release
